Description

Siamese Fighting Fish, also known as Bettas, are a popular freshwater aquarium fish due to their beautiful colorations, various fin shapes, and ease of care. They can breathe atmospheric air thanks to a unique organ called the labyrinth, which allows them to survive in various conditions that would be lethal to most other fish. Bettas grow to around 6 cm in length and have an average lifespan of four years, although well-kept specimens can live beyond six years. Bettas are territorial and require hiding places. Tankmates should be chosen carefully, and male Bettas should not be housed together unless separated by a dividing wall. To maximize their lifespan and ensure their wellbeing, Bettas should be kept in appropriately-sized tanks with appropriate filtration, and their water temperature should be between 24-30?C, with a pH level ranging from 6.5 to 7. While Bettas can be kept in smaller tanks, they ideally thrive in tanks of 40L or more.
